Once again, Gibraltar will be welcoming in the festive season with the Gibraltar Christmas Festival of Lights on the 23rd November, organised by the Gibraltar Cultural Services and the Gibraltar Electricity Authority.
Reach spoke to Nadia Gomez at the Gibraltar Cultural Services Events Department to find out more as we take you through our favourite photos from last year’s magical event!
Following 2018’s enormous success, the biggest attractions such as the video mapping and water display will be making a return, and this year the event will be held at Casemates Square “so that we can better cater to the crowds that support the event every year.”
“This year we promise to deliver a wonderful Mapping show, along with a water display, as this was a huge success last year. Santa will be making an appearance again and the children will be able to visit him at his grotto at the end of the show.”
“We also have local bands, a school choir and dance groups taking part.”
The Christmas Market will be open as from Thursday 21st November at the boulevard by the British War Memorial, Line Wall Road between until Tuesday 24th December 2019.
“The Christmas Market will be inaugurated on Thursday 21st November at 5pm with artisan’s stalls, entertainment, Christmas goodies, chestnuts, mulled wines, mince pies and much more to look forward to!”
The market will then operate between 12noon and 9pm every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 10am to 9pm every Saturday.
“At the market huts you will be able to find a wide range of handmade items as well as festive and local foods. The Gibraltar Artisan Market committee is confident that there will be something special for everyone and look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike.”
